The Columbus Review Contest Guidelines

We are thrilled to launch our very first contest alongside our inaugural issue! As a budding non-profit experimental literary magazine, we’re excited to discover fresh and surprising voices across our four unique categories.

Categories:

  • Poetry

  • Short Prose (fiction & nonfiction)

  • Scripts (stage and screen plays)

  • Bite Me (absurdist and satire)

Prizes

One grand prize winner, and five finalists will be selected across all genres.

Cash award: All cash entries go directly into the prize pool. 50% will be awarded to the grand prize winner. 25% will be divided equally among the top five finalists. And the remaining 25% covers administrative costs, Stripe processing fees, and magazine operations.

All winning pieces will be included in the next issue that The Columbus Review publishes.

Entry Fee

$10 per entry (via our contest submission form).

How to Enter

Submit via the dedicated contest form on our contest page, following the same guidelines as regular submissions (see Submissions page).

Rights

The Columbus Review acquires First North American Serial Rights for all accepted contest work. All rights revert to the author immediately upon publication. We do not currently offer additional monetary compensation beyond the prize pool.

Eligibility

  • Previously unpublished work only.

  • Simultaneous submissions are welcome, but please notify us immediately
if the piece is accepted elsewhere.

  • We accept multiple entries per writer ($10 entry fee per piece).

  • Open to writers residing in North America.

Bona Fortuna. We’re dying to read your work!
